First Aid Training

Level One First-Aid Course

Level One is a very popular course as it introduces people into Emergency Care and is usually the minimum requirement to be met by companies when being inspected by the various governing bodies.

  • Duration - 2 Days ( 16 Hours )

  • Entry Requirement - None

  • Certificate is valid for three years

Course content:

  • Principals of Emergency Care & safety

  • Emergency scene management

  • Artificial respiration

  • One rescuer Adult C.P.R

  • Choking

  • Wounds & Bleeding

  • Shock, unconsciousness & fainting

  • Fractures

  • Burns

  • Head & spinal injuries

  • Emergency Care Equipment

  • Legal implications & Ethics related to emergency care


Evaluation

  • The course is to be presented on a 50% theoretical and 50% practical basis.

  • The candidate is evaluated during the duration of the course. There are no
    written examinations.

  • A compulsory pass in C.P.R. is required.


Level Two First-Aid Course

Level two goes into more detail eg: Treatment of Paediatric patients

  • Duration - 3 days ( 20 Hours )

  • Entry Requirement - Valid Level 1 certificate

  • Certificate is valid for three years

Course content:

  • Principals of Emergency Care & Safety

  • Emergency scene management

  • Artificial respiration

  • One & Two Rescuer C.P.R.

  • Child & Infant C.P.R.

  • Choking, wounds & bleeding

  • Shock, unconsciousness & fainting

  • Fractures, burns, head & spinal injuries

  • Joint injuries (sport injuries)

  • Chest & eye injuries

  • Multiple injury management

  • Abdominal Pelvic injuries

  • Environmental illnesses & injuries

  • Poisoning, bites & stings

  • Chest pain, diabetes, epilepsy & convulsions

  • Drowning & diving accidents

  • Elementary & applied anatomy & physiology

  • Rescue carries

  • Emergency equipment

  • Legal implications & Ethics related to emergency care evaluation

Level One & Two combined

Level 1 & 2 combined is the most popular course because of the value for money and a lot of information to be learnt

  • Duration - 3 days ( 24 Hours )

  • Entry Requirement - None

  • Certificate is valid for three years


Level Three First Aid Course

This is the most advanced first-Aid qualification that can be achieved. Emcare recommends that all supervisors in working for large companies get trained up to level three. This will ensure a very high standard of patient care and help reduce further injury at the place of employment.

  • Duration - 3 days ( 24 Hours )

  • Entry Requirement - Valid Level 2 certificate

  • Certificate is valid for three years

Course content:

Contents are the same as Level 2 except a few additional chapters:

  • Emergency Child birth

  • Behavioural emergencies

  • Special patients and oxygen therapy

Evaluation

  • The candidate is evaluated during the duration of the course. There is a written,
    oral & practical examination. The pass mark for each component is 50%.

  • An overall average of 60% must be obtained to successfully complete the course.

  • A compulsory pass in C.P.R. is required.


CPR to the Public as well as A.H.A courses level 1-6

A very basic yet informative course in either Adult or Infant Resuscitation skills. These courses are accredited by the Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa and are run by qualified C.P.R Instructors.

  • Duration - 4 Hours

  • Entry Requirement - None

  • C.P.R Card is valid for One year

  • A.H.A courses available on request


Health Care Providers C.P.R. Course

These courses are offered to qualified health Care professionals, such as, Doctors, nurses and ambulance staff.

  • Duration - 5 Hours

  • Entry Requirement - Health Care Provider

  • C.P.R Card is valid for Two years
